#LightTheWorld week 3

This week's #LightTheWorld theme is

"Light Your Family"

I LOVE this one! When I think of lighting the world, I honestly think that our families and homes are where it starts. Kindness, tolerance, patience, love, faith, understanding.... they are all taught from the time we take our first breath. As a mom, my greatest teaching tool for my girls is being a good example. This week I will be making sure my family knows that they are loved and treasured.

Get out there and show your family how you feel about them!

#LightTheWorld 2018

It's that time of year again!!!

"Jesus Christ, the Light of the World, spent much of His ministry caring for individuals, one by one. Join us this Christmas as we follow His example and find ways to share our time, love, and resources with those in need."

This year it is divided in to 4 weeks of Service instead of 25 days.

I'm super excited to share what I have here for you.

Merry Christmas friends!

I'm kind of sad to say that today is the last day of the #LighttheWorld

initiative. 

As I was thinking about the theme for today,

it occurred to me how perfect it is. It makes me want to keep the Light the World going through

my every day life. There's no rule that says I can't. There's 

no reason why I can't keep the kindness and giving going for more

than the month of December. I want to be a light that shines for my Father

in Heaven.

I want to be better.

Do better.

And appreciate more.

I hope you have enjoyed the graphics I have shared with you.

I've been able to teach in primary a few times in my life. I have to say that my very favorite

part of primary are the prayers of the children. Those words said

in innocence and pure faith.

And...... sometimes they are so cute that you kinda have to fight not to laugh.

I have a friend that goes to the prison nearest me every Saturday.

He leads a Bible study there.

I am so impressed by his service. He studies and prepares,

and helps lead those men back to Christ.

Today I am going to concentrate on the things that matter most to me,

instead of thinking of the things I want.

Some days it's hard to be glad, lol. Today I am going to rejoice in the little things.

I'm going to be aware of all of the things Heavenly Father has given me.

And, if all else fails.... I'm going to think and ponder the fact that my 

4 year old grandson asked for toilet plungers for Christmas. 

2 of them to be exact.

He is going to wash the yucky stuff off them in the kitchen sink, and use them to climb the walls in his house.

His mother was not as amused by this as I am.

I'm really struggling with the need to purchase said plungers and gift 

them to my boy on the big day.

Forgiveness.

I don't know about you, but I am pretty forgiving to others.

Sometimes it might take me a while, but that is the way I am

wired I guess.

My forgiveness issue lies more in forgiving myself.

If I say something and hurt someone's feelings, etc.,  I can replay that moment in 

my mind FOREVER. 

Today, I am going to try and let go of some of that.

I taught primary for a bit a few years ago.

All the good stuff happens in primary!

The spirit with all the little ones is so sweet. It's also where you are gifted with

all of the details of their lives at home :) Gotta love it!

Here in Utah, where I live, the LDS church has a thrift

store. It's called Deseret Industries or DI.

We are able to donate unneeded clothing and household items. 

The items are then sold at thrift store prices, and also sent to countries that need them.

It's a pretty awesome place to go!

Be merciful.

I think the theme for today is pretty much 

the general theme throughout the #LighthteWorld

initiative.

It's about being kind and loving. Being Christlike.

I'm so far from perfect.

But... the best part of that is that even little things

can be an improvement for me, and keep  me on that path.

Kindness does matter.

Because we cannot know what is happening to others, 

what trials they have, how they are being tested.... A kind word

or action could literally alter their whole day.

I will be keeping this in mind today.

We have 4 such strangers in our house. Four furry babies.

All are rescues.

As soon as I read the topic  for today, they were the first thing that came to mind.

Sometimes strangers are just friends we have yet to meet.

I had to think about this one for about 3 seconds, lol. 

Today I am going to give out one of my customized Book of Mormons.

(If you haven't seen them, look under the Book of Mormon Journaling tab at the top of this blog)

I keep some made up and waiting. The missionaries hand them out

when they have a young person that might enjoy one.

"I was sick and ye visited me"

The theme for today means so much to me!

This last July I had to have emergency surgery. I had a hernia that had to be fixed immediately (I had had this issue for about 13 years). My insides had become tangled up like a big ball of yarn, and it was so painful that I made my husband take me to the ER in the middle of the night. When they did a CT scan to see what was going on, they also found 2 golf ball sized masses growing on my colon. Surgery was preformed that afternoon, and 12 inches of my colon was removed.

It all happened so fast, that I didn't have much time to think about it, and it still seems so unreal.

I am so grateful for those who took time to come to the hospital to see me. 

Who cared for me.

Who knew I needed love and support.

So very grateful.

All the prayers and wishes from people all over the world. So humbled.

It has made me want to be a better friend. A better me.
